Health Care Reform

Congresswoman Hirono,

I just received your flyer titled "Mazie on the Record on Health Care Reform." I also received your "Myth vs. Facts" response to a my previous contact with you.

I, like many of my friends and neighbors, are insulted that promoters of this bill continue to insult our intelligence with lies.

Lies such as "This bill encourages competition".

Please name a single small business (whom this bill claims to support) that can compete with the government by purchasing another provider, while still subsidizing the government plan through higher taxes.

Lies such as "Nothing in HR 3200 will force you to change the health insurance you have."

This cleverly disguised lie is nothing more than semantics. With the threat of imposed per-person fines in the form of extra taxes for NOT choosing the government plan, and the rising costs small businesses will face in attempting to compete with the government before realizing it's futile, this Bill will in fact FORCE the majority of people to accept the government plan. It's only a matter of time.

Lies such as "This will not add one dime to the federal deficit."

Congresswoman Hirono, we have heard this lie too many times over too many other "programs" over too many years from too many politicians from both parties to take you at your word on this. The rising national debt only proves this point beyond debate.

Please, don't insult my intelligence by making promises you have no intention of keeping.

And please stop using CBO statistics when they allegedly support "your side", yet neglecting other CBO statistics when they dispute the "facts" we're hearing from the administration and our representatives.

You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

As much as I'd like to debate the other numerous flaws in your taxpayer-funded flyers, it's clear from your responses that you support this massive bill and that basic common sense would fall on deaf ears.

I can only pray that the following does NOT fall on dear ears...

The following is from a retired attorney and Constitutional Law instructor who has actually read every page of HR 3200. (Have you read every page?)

In fact, I have concluded this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.

The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.

This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.

If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private insurance that is not deemed "acceptable" to the Choices Administrator" appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a "tax" instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the "due process of law.

So, there are three of those pesky amendments the far left hate so much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there though. The 9th Amendment provides: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;" The 10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the
Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.

This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the Constitution.. If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

Congresswoman Hirono, this is a massive ploy using the poor people of this country as pawns in the efforts to gain government control over 1/6th of our entire economy, with unheard-of, illegal and un-Constitutional intrusions into our personal lives by way of the IRS.


Shame on you.


Please don't be surprised if you find yourself un-employed like millions of others at the next election should you continue to support this bill. The American people are waking up and are going to hold their representatives accountable for their actions. 2010 will indeed be a year for "change".

"Free" grants

Aloha Congresswoman Hirono,

I noted with interest the first topic to come up on your website regarding your federal grants newsletter.

Will you please explain to me where you and Congress get your authorization to take billions of dollars from taxpayers to give away to any individual, business, school or organization that you see fit?

There's a very simple test that will show anyone whether or not a government has the "right" to do something-

If I, as an individual, do not have the right in question, I CANNOT give it to my government authorizing them to do it for me.

As an individual, I do NOT have the right to walk over to my neighbors and demand that they give me "x" amount of dollars in order to fund my new business or "program".

Therefore, I cannot authorize my government to do it for me. That's called extortion at best, and theft at worst. It's really that simple. What is so hard for you and Congress to understand about that?

The only rights the government has are those granted to it in the Constitution by its citizens.

A citizen CANNOT give their government a right that they do not have in the first place.

It's no wonder that we're drifting farther and farther towards a socialist, welfare state.

Here's how your "entitlement" attitude is being advertised:

You can apply if you have Bad Credit or Bankruptcy.
You do not have to repay anything to the Government.

Isn't this the type of irresponsible behavior and attitude that got our country into trouble in the first place?

"FREE MONEY!", the ads say.

"Each day millions of dollars in Free Government
Grants are given away to people just like you!", the ads say.

Well dammit Congresswoman Hirono, IT'S NOT FREE!

You can't "give" it to someone without first TAKING it from someone else!

Quit being so "generous" with other people's money!

This same website advertised that the federal government had $912.6 BILLION allocated for "free grant money".

$912.6 Billion. $912.6 Billion. $912.6 BILLION. Do I need to repeat it one more time in order for you and Congress to understand?

That's over $3,000 for EVERY man, woman and child in the country!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why don't you consider this bit of common sense-

Instead of taxing Americans for that $912.6 BILLION, and then taking an enormous chunk of it to "staff" the 57 Federal agencies in charge of it, along with the administrative costs of monitoring the 1,500+ grant programs....

Why don't you just stop stealing that money and let us keep the money in the first place?

Instead of taking nearly $1 Trillion through taxes and its massive bureaucracy, why don't you just leave that $1 Trillion in the hands of the consumers?

That would pay for your so-called "stimulus" package by itself.

For a family of 4, that would be an extra $12,000 this year alone!

Don't you think that would go a LONG way towards being able to keep up with the mortgage, make car payments, the ability to afford health-care, the ability to pay off debts, save a little for the tough times, and maybe even take a little vacation with the family?

Yet rather than leaving that money where it has the most likelihood of "stimulating" the economy - in the hands of us, the consumers - our government insists on taking it from us, thereby increasing the costs and size of our government, increasing the national debt, increasing the opportunity for massive fraud, and propagating the destructive, "no-credit-check", welfare mentality that the government should take care of us with its "blank check".

All while making the government look like saviors, when in fact, the opposite is the case.

These types of welfare programs and the people who support them make me sick.

Again, I ask you where you get your authority to "give away free money."

Please don't respond with some form letter telling me about the alleged "good" these grants do for our communities.

If they did any "good", why are so many small businesses failing? Why are bankruptcies and foreclosures at all time highs?

Please, explain your Constitutional authorization for these types of programs.

If you cannot, then as your employer I demand that you stop promoting these types of socialist programs that are destroying the moral, ethical and financial fiber of our country.
