Health Care Reform

Senators Ron, Jeff, and Congressman Peter
I don't really want you to send me an autographed photo of yourself (as the subject line suggests) unless you do it on your own stamp with your own photo...and not on tax payer time either :D
I have some concerns about, as your aide put it on the phone, you "wanting to move the health care discussion forward...leaving the public with the most possible choices"
Would you want to move a proposed discussion forward for 10 Trillion dollar bubble gum flying suits for every citizen??? If something is absurd, as this health care issue is, why move it forward. The more likely reason for your YES vote in the finance committee was to further advance what you have intended to advance all along...more government intervention and less liberty.
Your arguments for "health care reform" (HCR) sound compassionate and worthwhile, but emotions and ideals aside, they ignore the basic tenant that you cannot take from one by force to give to another without robbing both parties of basic human rights. Even for the best reasons, 2 wrongs do not make a right.
You say that many employers lament loss or inability to offer coverage to employees. When did THIS become as important a right as the right to persue/support oneself without being robbed by taxes (legal plunder). Don't forget that many small business employer's offer a rewarding work environment and pay incentives that allow their employees to choose their own health insurance needs.
You say that HCR will save thousands of dollars. May i suggest that instead of always forcing the argument of "the better of 2 evils" (ie health care as is with emergency room last resort or HCR) why not discuss alternatives which would save even TRILLIONS of dollars and give people freedom. Im talking about the emergency rooms themselves. Where is it written that emergency rooms must provide for everyone? Since when did the burden of responsibility fall from the shoulders of the unhealthy or injured to the hospital?
When did health "insurance" become health "everything". If it was truly "insurance", people would pay for 'maintenance' such as check ups, dental fillings, baby births out of pocket, and Insurance would be purchased at much smaller premiums for high deductible EMERGENCIES such as car accidents, difficulty in baby deliveries like premature births, or abscessed teeth?
It should be more like car insurance: who could afford car insurance if our policies included oil changes, tire pressure checks, windshield wiper replacement, car washes and details? That is ridiculous. Insurance is for catastrophe. When premiums are suppose to cover maintenance, they sky-rocket. Its simple math, mixed with human nature.

Now, Senator Ron, this is where you cross the line. You tell me, "you can keep it" if Im happy with my doctor or insurance. First off, you have no right to tell me whether i can keep or not keep my doctor or insurance. Have too many years on government payroll given you such a bloated image of yourself that your image is one of king, or dictator/monarch, benevolently granting me my wish? YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS TELLING ME EITHER WAY! A great fundamental (US Constitution 101) is the principle that the PEOPLE are the source of government power! "...that every man may act...according to the moral agency...and be accountable for his own sins in the day of judgment" With freedom, we can be accountable for our own actions and cannot blame our conditions on our bondage to another. Would you take this away?

Secondly you say the bill will give us more choices: More government involvement in everyday lives has never resulted in more choice, or more freedom. What gives people freedom are responsibility, and morality/self government.
Thirdly, by "pooling" everyone's risk to cut costs, you basically reward those whose "risks" (some by choice, some by fortune) would put them at greater financial burdens, and punish us/ in debt those whose choices and fortune give them more financial freedom. Sure, its nice if everyone shares and everyone is the same, but that isn't life. When did you become the "fair" police and "fair" distributor. And to whom are your "fair" policies fair?!? Not to me, specifically, nor to me generally. You steal my freedoms so you can call yourself "fair".
Then you condescendingly come down on insurance companies. "profits" is not a bad word. Am I bad if i profit from my industry? From my risk taking? If someone is not accepted by an insurer because they are too much a risk for them, the real "american" system will allow for an entrepreneur to make a profit and find a way to insure them. As long as YOU don't get involved
Senator Ron, quit telling me you know what is best for me. Allow me and my fellowmen to take back our stewardship and health and responsibility and im sure well do fine. Stick to what you know best, or should know by now after many years "profiting" (that ugly word again :D ) as a congressman, and defend my liberties protected in the Constitution. Health and wealth will follow!

You say that opponents of this measure oppose it falsely believing care will be rationed. Senator Ron, as a doctor who treats people on federal and state HCR plans, IT IS RATIONED. Care is dictated by what is covered and so I guess that makes you the dictator! It is rationed because EVERYTHING can't possibly be covered. It doesn't work, more money won't make it work, the system is flawed. This is from DIRECT and FIRST HAND experience TREATING Patients!!!

By the way, 47 MILLION uninsured do not all get their health care from the emergency room. Plenty of us pay cash, fee-for-service for all our 'maintenance' needs. This is real HCR, giving the power and responsibility back to the people from whence it came, the reform will occur when we don't have another taxpayer bailout in the form of HEALTH CARE 'REFORM'

thanks for reading, please consider that there are better ways than those currently proposed

sincerely,

Dr Luke Gambee
